I had a lot of fun creating my podcast and I think I made it more difficult than need be for my first time doing this! But I am very proud of what I have created and think it's entertaining and creative. There are a number of things I would change such as the transistions between clips, I would add more voiceovers and footage to the interviews so it is more entertaining, and I would probably mess with my intro even more. But I quickly learned how time consuming it is to make the smallest changes and I didn't want to risk messing anything else up. While shooting and editing my podcast, I decided to take "The Office" t.v. show approach and kept that in mind during the whole process. I interviewed some friends and co-workers and shot footage of me making a fool out of myself so I could insert those clips during some of my interviews. Overall, I had a lot of fun making this podcast and I learned more than I thought I would. I was hesitant about doing this project at first due to my lack of experience but now I am much more confident and look forward to making the next podcast.

Podcast #1
This was my first time creating a podcast and I learned a lot in the process. I improved my camera skills and learned new techniques. Using the tri-pod and getting my shots level was difficult at first, and making sure I had the shot I wanted was time consuming (that is why I ended up with a ton of b-roll). I have never edited video before and never used iMovie, therefore, I learned a number of things. I learned how to export my video to iMovie, split clips and delete pieces you don't want, have two audio streams and do voiceovers, import a song and sync it with clips, sync my video and audio, and in general make a movie out of all of my footage! Basically I just messed around with iMovie, pressed buttons here and there and learned a lot through trial and error, and hitting edit, undo many times.

I have to start this comment out by saying this podcast was hilarious. I am a huge fan of the television show "The Office" and this podcast was very close to that show. The opening of this podcast was very well produced and nicely edited. The shots of the campus and her apartment complex worked very well. You can tell that Ashley put a lot of time and effort in this, and you could tell she had a lot of fun as well. I was a little surprised when she did not include "The Office" as one of her favorite television shows. I guess I just assumed from the style of the podcast that it would be. Although very entertaining, her podcast left out some of the material that was supposed to be included. She never mentioned her goals for this class, unless I just missed them, and she never told us what her next two or three podcasts were going to cover. She focused all her time on her interests and the interviews of her coworkers. Other than that this podcast was produced very well. Her b-roll was funny and well timed. She was easy to hear and none of her words were lost in the transitions. There were a couple of times, especially when she was sitting at her desk, that the lighting was a little dark; just a minor problem. This was a lot of fun to watch and kept me constantly laughing. She just left out a few things.
I have to agree with Brandon, I loved the opening montage. 'The Office' is one of my top shows and this was a treat. Did your boss really say "She is a body, so I guess that's good." Haha! She did an excellent job with highlighting her interests. In some parts I feel the camera should have been closer to you. B-rolls were a nice touch. The basketball scene was a bit dark for me and the camera seemed a bit distant. Sound was top notch and editing was sharp. I found the goals part absent as well. The interviews were edited well and were funny. The ending was a tad abrupt too, I felt.Aside from that minor point,I enjoyed this entertaining podcast and definitely look forward to seeing what she brings to the table in the next round.
Ashley, I love “The Office” theme. The theme made it very interesting and kept my attention. You were able to spice up information that could easily be very dry and boring. You are obviously very creative. Who needs writers, we’ve got Ashley.
I also like the way you zoomed in and out for the different shots in your introduction. It’s obvious you spent a lot of time getting extra footage. This extra footage also helps to tell part of your story without using words. I like it! The footage also fits well with “The Office” theme song. I’m sure this is difficult to do.
I liked that you included several people in your podcast. Once again, it kept my attention. One suggestion I do have is to have each person talk in a different location. However, I know that “The Office” does have people give their “confessionals” in one location most of the time.
When you are first introducing yourself, before your co-workers begin talking about you, there was not a pen on the desk. Then, a pen magically appeared. This is not a major problem or very distracting, but it’s something you might try to think about for the next podcasts.
I also noticed that you did not mention your goals for this class or the topics of your next video projects. I’m not sure how you’d fit this into your theme, but you’re obviously very creative so I’m sure you could work it in somewhere.
Good Job! You made it interesting.
Ashley,
Nice shots. You may have gone a bit too wide on one of the campus shots. You might have shifted yourself to the right on the first shot. Person #3 has the audio clipped a bit at the beginning. You might be a bit wide on the basketball shot. Particularly working with a small screen. Overall, this is a very nice project, particularly for a first video project. Great job.
Obviously, everybody loved your podcast, Ashley. You did a really good job; excellent idea to model it after "The Office." I agree also that it was well edited and that your b-roll was very nice.
THe only critique that I have is that the lighting was a little iffy sometimes. I had that problem though, too, so I completely empathize. Good luck with the next one; I'm looking forward to it!
Hey it's Ricky.
